Treatment of Sacroiliac joint dysfunction with Cooled Radiofrequency Ablation.
Methods
Case report
Single case report focusing on previously missed diagnosis, investigations and treatment focusing on Sacroiliac joint dysfunction.
56yr old female complaining of Low back pain radiating to posterior aspect of right thigh. Pain increased on walking, sitting or standing in the same position for long time. Pain decreased on rest. Patient had undergone endoscopic lumbar discectomy R L34, L45 in July of 2022.
Known diabetic, hypertensive.
After evaluation and work up she was treated with right SI joint cooled radiofrequency ablation along with joint injection.
Results
Patient was followed up weekly for a month and is still being followed up
She reported 100% pain relief, improvements in daily activities and quality of life.
Conclusions
Sacroiliac joint dysfunction is sometimes missed/overlooked cause of low back pain.
When diagnosed and treated correctly, it can significantly improve patient outcome.
Cooled Radiofrequency ablation along with joint injection can provide long term relief.
